Hi friends!

For those who have been a part of our community for a while may have noticed, Amanda and I have not posted anything new on The Us Equation in close to two years.

For others, you may have only recently found our blog — perhaps this is even the first you’re hearing of it!

Whether you have been around for a while or are newer, we wanted to say a quick THANK YOU and pray that this update helps bring some clarity around why we haven’t been posting and what we are thinking for the future!

Hint: (We’re really excited about it and hope you will be, too!)

First... What's Been Going On?

When we first started The Us Equation in 2017, it was nothing more than a passion project. It was a space for Amanda and me to share our experiences as a newlywed couple in a way that might encourage other couples.

We were eager to take our first few steps on the life-long journey to live out biblical oneness and desired to share that journey openly and authentically. Along the way, we found that this journey is riddled with many highs and many lows.

But above all, we found that in Christ, marriages can experience the reality that ‘you’ + ‘me’ can equal ‘Us’ (Biblical Oneness). Something that we call The Us Equation.

When we launched The Us Equation to share this journey, we had ZERO expectations for what it would become. But over the next 2 years, we saw God’s favor as we reached over 17,000 people visiting our website to read our blogs and engaged over a million people through our social media.

During that time, we had the privilege to pray with and encourage numerous couples. We celebrated with those who were experiencing incredible joy and did our best to lift up others who were dealing with incredible disappointment.

And as we continued to share our journey and encourage couples, Amanda and I developed a huge heart to pour into marriages however we could.

However, in September 2019, we felt called to plant and pastor a local church community in our city.

Out of a desire to be healthy and give ourselves fully to the building up of this local body of believers, we made the decision to put The Us Equation on hold.

Over the past two years, we’ve had the unique joy, opportunity, and privilege to serve and help build a beautiful, vibrant expression of God’s family in our local community.

For those who have been following along in our online community for a while, this is why we have not posted any new content in that span.

But, despite not adding any new content, The Us Equation blog and community have continued to grow.

Since we stopped writing in 2019, we have had close to 30,000 people visit and read our blogs. We’ve had hundreds of people sign up to join our email community and many others continuing to reach out over social.

We look at this and are blown away by how God is continuing to move through our older content. We’ve also become even more aware of the overwhelming number of people seeking encouragement and biblical wisdom when it comes to experiencing oneness in their marriage.

So... What's Next?

Recently, Amanda and I have felt at peace to begin again creating new content for The Us Equation. Doing this has always been in our hearts, but it wasn’t until now that we felt at peace to do so.

We are incredibly excited and we have a renewed vision for reaching those who are seeking encouragement and equipping in their marriages.

Because of this, we are beginning to take steps to renew The Us Equation with a mission to encourage and equip as many couples as possible to build an ‘Us’ Marriage*.
(*A marriage where the two parts of ‘you’ and ‘me’ experience the oneness of ‘Us’.)

And we want to invite you to join us in this mission.

Both Amanda and I have a burden to bring unique content and teachings that focus on helping couples build a good, biblical foundation in their marriage.

Rather than just focusing on developing the fruit of peace, joy, love, romance that couples want, we want to help encourage and equip them to do the work of building a good foundation first.

Why?

Because good, lasting fruit naturally flows from a good foundation. And without a good foundation, any fruit produced in a marriage will be short-lived.

We envision creating content that encourages and equips couples to build a foundation in their marriage that is:

  • Christ-Centered
  • Biblically-Based
  • Vision-Led
  • And Growth-Oriented

We are convinced that a marriage built on a foundation like this will experience good fruit. They will experience joy, peace, romance, friendship, and most importantly… Oneness.

So, starting this month (June 2021), we are going to begin posting daily on our social media. (We’ve got some fun things planned — so come follow along on Facebook, Insta, or Pinterest!)

And starting in July, we are going to begin releasing new blogs twice a month. These will be encouraging and practical and helpful. So come, read, drop a comment, and join in on the conversations!

And last, but not least, in mid-late 2022, we are planning to release our first course titled, “Building an ‘Us’ Marriage” as the first of many resources designed to equip couples with practical skills to pursue biblical oneness together in their marriage.

We are incredibly excited about this and are dreaming about being able to equip 200 couples through this course by the end of 2023.

  2. Support Us Financially – In order to grow and reach more couples, we are going to need to upgrade the platforms we are using for our website and communication. We’ve made due with VERY low cost options, but some small upgrades will enable us to reach exponentially more couples.
